French Immersion Speak a Top International Language! French Immersion is a program which begins in Pre-K or Kindergarten at multiple school campuses across the parish. Children are taught the core subjects in French, with the exception of English Language Arts. The immersion process begins as early as Pre-K , and continues through high school where students may qualify for a special endorsement on their diploma, the Seal of Biliteracy, which will demonstrate their superior language abilities to colleges, universities, and/or trade schools. While in middle school, students take credit and placement exams which will allow them to continue studying upper-level French in high school if they choose to do so. Transportation is provided for our Immersion students throughout the district, depending on bus and bus stop availability. If your family requires transportation assistance, please verify the availability of convenient satellite stops near you. What Alumni are Saying..."French Immersion is a program that shaped my life. I was enrolled the year it began and my classmates and I quickly became family. Not only were we taught in a wonderful new language, but we learned about our French heritage and connected organically with our culture. I always knew there was something special about us and the way that we were educated. We had an advantage, given our young age, to absorb as much of the language as possible. Due to this advanced learning program, our scholastic achievements often surpassed those of our non-Immersion classmates throughout our academic careers. We were also able to forge a bond of lifetime friendship with those whom we shared this unique experience."
